Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders: Adjustment Disorder

Adjustment disorder is an emotional or behavioral response to an upsetting event or stressful situation. Unfortunately at times, life presents circumstances that overwhelm our ability to manage and adapt. These events can be anything that is significant to the individual; divorce, death in the family, financial difficulties, family, social setbacks, relationship and school issues or labor changes.

All these events can be significant and can have a major impact in our lives; thus, learning healthy skills and accessing resources to manage stressors and face challenges over the life course can help in reestablishing interests, connect with passions and cultivate the life you want.
